2023 Assyrtiko – Grecque de Pied
Borrowing from a similar French term for own-rooted vines, the "Grecque de Pied" block was planted in 2018. It was our original Assyrtiko planting and the first in the Lodi AVA. It consists of multiple clones all planted on their own roots - no rootstock, like the vines on Santorini.
We whole cluster pressed the grapes, fermented the juice with native yeasts in neutral French oak barrels and aged it in stainless steel. It was bottled after 6 months of aging. It is bursting with aromas & flavors of Kefir lime, wet stone & minerality wrapped around a lip-smacking, fresh finish.

SPARKLING ROSÉ
All of the fruit for this cuvee is grown by our family. The Zinfandel is grown on a 35 year old vineyard we planted when we were in high school. The tiny bit of Assyrtiko added sits along side the Zinfandel vineyard. It’s own-rooted and was the first first harvest taken from this small plot. The grapes were all gently pressed together, fermented until dryness. A second fermentation ensued after the wine was put into bottle. The wine aged on the lees (tirage) for a full 2 1/2 years (30 months) before it was disgorged in August 2023. No dosage, or sugar, was added back to the disgorged wine. The wine has a beautiful salmon color with gorgeous notes of wild raspberries, alpine strawberries with hint of green apple.

thera block assyrtiko
The Thera Block of Assyrtiko is located in 25 miles northeast of Lodi in the village of Clements. Assyrtiko's birthplace is the Mediterranean island jewel of Santorini, officially called Thera. The grape is the current face of Greek wine and for good reason - it's spectacular, intense and stands out in a crowd. There is very little of the grape planted in the new world. As sons of Greek immigrants we are especially proud to be amongst the first to grow & produce this wine in California. We believe there is no better white grape suited to the Mediterranean climate here in California, and especially Lodi, than Assyrtiko. We whole cluster pressed the grapes & fermented the juice in neutral french oak barrels and stainless steel using native yeast. It was bottled after 7 months of aging. It is bursting with aromas & intense flavors of preserved lime, citrus, stone fruit & minerality wrapped around a juicy, voluptuous finish. 13.9% alc. 6 barrels produced.
2022 Duetto Red Wine

In our California version we blend equal parts Nero d’Avola from the Fernow Ranch with Zinfandel from our family's field-blend Stampede Vineyard. The grapes were destemmed, fermented separately with native yeasts and raised in neutral oak for 16 months before being combined for bottling. 12.9% alc. 6 barrels produced. Cherries, berries, flowers & wild herbs on the nose & palate.

Fernow Ranch Nero d'Avola
Nero d’Avola is one of the most important red varieties of southern Italy & Sicily. We are taking the road less traveled and seeking out grapes that thrive in warm Mediterranean climates. Lodi is a natural fit for Nero d’Avola with its sandy soils, warm days but breezy, cool nights. All of this combined with the impeccably thoughtful farming of the fruit were exactly what we were hoping to find. The no-till vineyard is meticulously farmed by the Des Voignes & Hartwick families. The grapes were destemmed, fermented with native yeasts and raised in neutral oak for 16 months. Darkly floral with a medley of herbs, black cherries and licorice on the nose. Plenty of structure for long aging to go along with flavors of crushed raspberries, blackberries and notes of sweet spice.
